Not all robot arms are the same. In fact, there are 128 of them, organized into one systematic family.
This video shows PPP arrangement: three sliding joints. On its own, PPP contains 16 different architectures, because the twist angles between its joints can each take four values. Across the 8 basic arrangements, that adds up to the full set of 128. The cartesian, the mechanism behind 3Dprinters and CNC machines, is just one of those 16. That systematic map comes from Interactive Analysis of Industrial Robots, by our founder Dr. Max Antonio Gonzalez-Palacios (Springer). What makes it unusual is the approach: instead of studying robots one at a time, you can build, see and verify any of the 128 interactively.
